Özet

II. Dünya Savaşı sonrası insanların daha çok tüketmelerini sağlamak amacıyla tüketim kültürü oluşturulmuştur. Tüketim kültürü kişilere mutlu olabilmek için daha çok tüketmeleri gerektiği fikrini benimsetmiştir. Daha çok tüketen insan toplulukları, tüketim talebini ve şirketler arası rekabeti arttırmıştır. Bu şekilde daha fazla ve ucuza üretim yapılır hale gelinmiştir. Üretimin ucuz ve seri hale gelmesi, kullanılan ucuz iş gücü ve zayıf güvenlik önlemleri gibi sorunları da beraberinde getirmiştir. Üretim aşamalarında kullanılan zararlı kimyasallar, tüketim artıklarından çıkan zehirli gazlar çevreye zarar vererek, küresel tehlike haline gelmişlerdir.

Tüketim kültürünün hem çevreye hem de insan psikolojisine verdiği zararı fark eden bilinçli ve duyarlı insanlar arasında minimalizm akımı popüler hale gelmiştir. “Az çoktur.” mottosunu taşıyan minimalizm ile sadeleşerek mutlu olmak, zaman, yer ve enerji tasarrufu sağlayarak özgürleşmek amaçlanmaktadır.

Bu çalışmada tüketim kültürü ve yaratılan tüketim ulusu incelenmiş, günümüzde popülerleşen minimalizm kavramı, minimalist tüketim ve minimalist yaşam uygulamaları ile ele alınmıştır.

The Culture of Consumption and Minimalism

Abstract

After the Second World War, a consumption culture was created to enable people to more consume. Consumer culture imposed an idea that people need more consumption to be happy. Consumer groups that are consuming more have increased the demand for consumption and the competition between companies. In this way, production has become much more and cheaper. The cheap and serial production, brought problems such as cheap labor power and security weakness. The harmful chemicals used in the production stages and the poisonous gases coming from the consumption residues harmed the environment and became a global danger.

The movement of minimalism has become popular among the conscious and sensitive people who recognize the loss of consumption culture both to the environment and to the human psychology. With the minimalism that carries the motto "Less is more.", It is aimed to be happy by being simple, to be liberated by saving time, space and energy.

In this study, the consumer culture and the created nation of consumption were examined, the concept of minimalism which has become popular nowadays has been discussed with minimalist consumption and minimalist living practices.
