Abstract

The fully deprotonated tetrathiacalix[4]arene 1(4-) in 1,3-alternate conformation and bearing four carboxylate units was shown to act as a tecton leading, in the presence of Ag+ cation, to a 2-D coordination network in the crystalline phase which can be described as discrete binuclear [1(4-), (Ag+)(2)](2-) complexes interconnected by Ag+ cations.
