Computer aided design in sheet metal forming using hard dies, which has a significant role in the automotive industry, was investigated. More specifically, the springback problem in stamping die design was elaborated and a solution method in die design was developed and evaluated. This compensation method assumes the necessary geometry change due to springback same as the springback and modifies the draw die surface geometry same amount with the calculated springback of finite element nodes in the reverse direction. The developed method was implemented in a computer program that uses panel data after drawing and springback simulations and a commercial surfacing program. This method was tested on a case part; member floor side rear of a light commercial vehicle, and the improvement in panel geometry after simulating with the modified die geometry was shown and discussed.
