Her dönemde ressamlar ilgilenmiş oldukları kavramlar üzerinden eserlerine yön verirken; anlatmak istedikleri konuyu
eserlerinin içerisinde farklı ögeler kullanarak yansıtmışlardır. “Fantastik” kavramı, toplumların varoluşundan beri çoğu eserde
görülmektedir. İnsanların yaşadıkları dönem, inanışları, değer yargıları gibi birçok faktör fantastik ögelerin kullanımında etkili
olmuştur. Yazılı ve yazılı olmayan kaynaklarda bulunan fantastik unsurlar, farklı dönemlerde, farklı üsluplarla ressamların
eserlerinde işlenmiştir. Efsaneler, destanlar, şiirler, hikâyeler gibi edebÎ ürünlerde, mitolojide oldukça yaygın olarak yer alan
fantastik ögeler, ressamların ilgisini çekmiştir. Ressamların bir kısmı kâbusları ele almış; bir kısmı ise dinÎ ögeler temelinde
dünya dışı varlıkları eserlerine yansıtmışlardır. Gerçek dışı dünyanın yansıması olan unsurlar, edebiyat türlerinin yanı sıra
sinemada da varlık göstermiştir. Fantastik ögelerin kullanıldığı edebi çalışmalar sinemaya uyarlanmış ve disiplinlerarası
perspektifler de ortaya çıkmıştır. Edebiyat alanında fantastik kavramının işlendiği çok sayıda edebi ürünün oluşu ve bu ürünler
arasında romanların sinemaya uyarlanmaları durumu, araştırmada üzerinde durulan örnekler arasında yer almıştır. Bu
çalışmada; resim sanatı içerisinde farklı bir yer bulan fantastik dünya betimlemelerinin Hieronymus Bosch’un resimlerine
yansımaları odağa alınmıştır. Öncelikle fantastik kavramının farklı kaynaklardan edinilen bilgilerle anlamı yönünden
açıklanması ve değerlendirmesi yapılmış, eserlerinde fantastik ögeler işleyen Francisco Goya, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Franz
Stuck, Johann Heinrich Füssli, Ernst Fuchs gibi farklı sanatçıların çalışmalarına yer verilmiştir. Eser analizi yöntemiyle resimler,
teknik ve içerik olarak değerlendirilmiş; fantastik ögelerin kullanım biçimleri incelenmiş ve sembolize ettikleri anlamlar
üzerinden açıklamalar yapılmıştır. Son olarak çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda fantastik ögelerin kullanımı özelinde
Hieronymus Bosch’un eserleri incelenmiştir. Genel olarak resimde fantastik kavramının nasıl ele alındığı ve söz konusu
kavramın ressamlar tarafından nasıl aktarıldığının bir analizi sunulmaya çalışılmıştır. Fantastik kavramının çok daha sonra
“fantastik gerçekçilik” olarak adlandırılan bir akım olarak kendini gösterdiği de elde edilen bulgular arasında yer almıştır.
Çalışmada incelenen terimler ve sanatçıların eserleri doğrultusunda fantastik kavramının sanat alanında sıklıkla yer bulduğu
ve resimlerde sembolik anlamlar taşıyan resimsel unsurlarla birlikte farklı bir boyut kazandığı görülmüştür. Araştırmada veri
toplama aşamasında, öncelikle çalışmanın da konusunu oluşturan fantastik kavramı üzerinde durularak kavramla alakalı
literatür taraması yapılmış, ressamların söz konusu temayla ilgili eserlerinin analizi için farklı kaynaklardan bilgiler elde
edilmiştir. Fantastik resim üzerine yapılan incelemelerin yanı sıra fantastik realizm ile ilgili analizlerde bulunulmuş, fantastik
kavramının edebiyat ve sinemada nasıl yer bulduğu, gerçeküstülük ve fantastik kavramları arasında nasıl bir ilişki olduğu gibi
sorulara cevaplar aranmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında Hieronymus Bosch’un eserlerinin fantastik, gerçek dışı temalarla
olan ilişkisi irdelenmiştir. Bu ilişkinin en somut örneklerine sanatçının eserlerini oluşturduğu kompozisyonda yer verdiği dünya
dışı varlıklarda görmek mümkündür. Bununla birlikte Bosch’un resimlerinde fiziksel göstergelerin yanı sıra bu göstergelerin
içerik yönünden de fantastik anlamlar taşıdığı görülmüştür. Söz konusu anlam bakımından sanatçının resimlerinde
oluşturduğu resimsel unsurlara konu olan cennet-cehennem kavramları, insanların cezalandırılırken çekmiş oldukları acıların
yansıması, insanların içinde bulundukları toplumun giderek kötüye gitmesi üzerine eleştiriler, verilmek istenen öğütler,
ressamın eserlerinin çoğunun konusunu oluştururken, içeriği hakkında fikir vermektedir. Cennet ve cehennem tasvirlerinde
yer alan çeşitli yaratıklar, eserlere olağan dışı bir atmosfer taşıyarak fantastik kavramının kullanımına örnek teşkil etmiştir.
Konu bakımından dini içeriklerin de geniş yer bulduğu eserler fantastik dünya betimlemelerini içermesi açısından önemli
olmuştur. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda Hieronymus Bosch’un eserlerinin geneline egemen olan fantastik
unsurların, ressamın tavrını da şekillendiren unsurlar olduğu görülmüştür.
In every period, the painters gave direction to their works based on the concepts they were interested in; They reflected the
subject they wanted to tell by using different elements in their works. The concept of “fantastic” has been seen in most works
since the existence of societies. Many factors such as the period in which people live, their beliefs and value judgments have

been effective in the use of fantastic items. Fantastic elements found in written and unwritten sources were handled in the
works of painters in different periods, with different styles. In literary products such as legends, epics, poems and stories,
fantastic elements, which are quite common in mythology, have attracted the attention of painters. Some of the painters
dealt with nightmares; some of them reflected extraterrestrials in their works on the basis of religious elements. Elements
that are the reflection of the unreal world have existed in cinema as well as literary genres. Literary works using fantastic
elements have been adapted to the cinema and interdisciplinary perspectives have also emerged. The existence of a large
number of literary products in which the concept of fantastic is handled in the field of literature and the adaptation of novels
to cinema among these products are among the examples emphasized in the research. In this study; The reflections of the
fantastic world descriptions, which have a different place in the art of painting, on Hieronymus Bosch's paintings are focused
on. First of all, the concept of fantastic has been explained and evaluated in terms of its meaning with the information
obtained from different sources, and the works of different artists such as Francisco Goya, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Franz Stuck,
Johann Heinrich Füssli, Ernst Fuchs are included. With the work analysis method, the pictures were evaluated as technical
and content; The usage patterns of fantastic items were examined and explanations were made on the meanings they
symbolized. Finally, the works of Hieronymus Bosch were examined in terms of the use of fantastic elements in line with the
purpose of the study. In general, an analysis of how the concept of fantastic is handled in painting and how the concept is
conveyed by painters has been tried to be presented. It was also among the findings that the concept of fantastic manifested
itself as a movement called "fantastic realism" much later. In line with the terms examined in the study and the works of the
artists, it was seen that the concept of fantastic often took place in the field of art and gained a different dimension with the
pictorial elements that have symbolic meanings in the paintings. At the stage of data collection in the research, firstly, the
concept of fantastic, which is the subject of the study, was emphasized, and literature related to the concept was searched,
and information was obtained from different sources for the analysis of the works of the painters related to the theme. In
addition to the studies on fantastic painting, analyzes were made on fantastic realism, and answers were sought to questions
such as how the concept of fantastic found its place in literature and cinema, and what kind of relationship there is between
the concepts of surrealism and fantastic. In the light of the findings, the relationship of Hieronymus Bosch's works with
fantastic and unreal themes was examined. It is possible to see the most concrete examples of this relationship in the
extraterrestrial beings that the artist includes in his composition. However, in Bosch's paintings, besides the physical
indicators, these indicators also have fantastic meanings in terms of content. In terms of the meaning in question, the
concepts of heaven and hell, which are the subject of the pictorial elements created by the artist in his paintings, the reflection
of the pain that people have suffered while being punished, the criticisms about the gradual deterioration of the society in
which people live, the advice to be given, while forming the subject of most of the artist's works, gives an idea about the
content. Various creatures in the depictions of heaven and hell set an example for the use of the concept of fantastic by
bringing an unusual atmosphere to the works. In terms of subject, the works, in which religious contents are also widely used,
have been important in terms of including fantastic world descriptions. In line with the findings obtained in the research, it
has been seen that the fantastic elements that dominate the works of Hieronymus Bosch are also the elements that shape
the attitude of the painter.
