Köprü kelimesi sözlük anlamının dışında birçok kapalı anlamı içeren bir semboldür. Onun kültürel alanda sembolik geçmişini aramak bir kazı çalışmasına benzer. Bunun için mitolojilerde, inanışlarda ve kutsal kitaplarda köprünün nasıl anlamlandırıldığını incelemek gerekir. Bir sözleşme sembolü olarak gökkuşağından köprüler yeryüzü ve gökyüzü arasındaki bağı oluştururken, öte dünyanın eşiği olarak görülen ve üzerinden geçen kişiye göre tehlikeli olabildiği gibi rahat bir yola dönüşen köprüler de vardır. Ancak neredeyse hepsinde köprünün sembolik değeri “bir aşamadan diğerine geçiş” olarak yorumlanır. Sembolün bu şekilde yorumlanmasının yanı sıra kolektif bilinçdışında da kodlanmış bir anlam olarak yer almakta ve insanoğlunun yaşamında farklı yerlerde farklı şekillerde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada köprü sembolizmini incelemek için mitolojilerde ve diğer dinî inanışlarda köprünün nasıl anlamlandırıldığı ve hangi mitik hikâyelerle açıklandığı değerlendirilecektir. Bunun yanı sıra köprü sembolünün edebiyattaki izdüşümleri de göz ardı edilmeyecek, inanç sistemlerindeki varoluşunun yanı sıra edebiyatta hangi biçim ve yorumlarla karşılık bulduğu tartışılacaktır. Çalışmanın amacı “köprü”nün bir sembol olarak kapsadığı semantik çerçeveyi tespit etmektir.
The word bridge is a symbol that contains many implicit meanings outside of the dictionary meaning. Searching for her symbolic past in the cultural sphere is like an excavation. For this, it is necessary to examine how the bridge is made meaningful in mythologies, beliefs and holy books. While bridges made of the rainbow as a symbol of contract form the bond between the earth and the sky, there are bridges that are seen as the threshold of the other world and can be dangerous or easy to cross for the person passing by. However, in almost all of them, the symbolic value of the bridge is interpreted as "transition from one stage to another". In addition to the interpretation of the symbol in this way, it also takes place as a coded meaning in the collective unconscious and appears in different ways in different places in human life. In this study, in order to examine bridge symbolism, how the bridge is made meaningful in mythologies and other religious beliefs and which mythical stories are explained will be evaluated. In addition to this, the projections of the bridge symbol in literature will not be ignored, it will be investigated in what forms and interpretations it corresponds in literature as well as its existence in belief systems. The aim of the study is to identify the semantic framework in which the "bridge" is symbolically contained.
