Abstract

Rock cavern structures used for living or storage purposes are being widely built in Nevşehir region, today. In the scope of this research, rock cavern structure used for storage purposes were examined. Geological environment conditions of Nevşehir Kavak region were taken into consideration and numerical analyses were made by finite element software in this study. Linear Elastic and Perfectly Plastic models were used in the numerical analyses. Displacaments, total deviatoric, and normal stressed were evaluated in these numerical analyses. In addition to this, the effective parameters on the behavior of rock cavern structures were examined by sensitivity and parameter analyses using Linear Elastic and Perfectly Plastic models. As a result of the numerical analyses, it is observed that compressive stresses mostly observed around the rock cavern structure. The results of Lineer Elastic and Perfectly Plastic model were found to be close to each other and the selected parameters remained within elastic limits.
