Assoc. Prof. Bünyamin BAVLI

Assoc. Prof. Bünyamin BAVLI completed his undergraduate studies in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 2006. Immediately after graduation, he worked as an English Language Assistant at Georg Kerschensteiner High School in Frankfurt, Germany, as part of the European Union's Comenius Language Assistant Program during the 2006–2007 academic year.

From 2007 to 2014, he served in various roles within the public education sector, including English teacher, vice principal, and EU Project Specialist at the Provincial Directorates of National Education in Diyarbakır and Istanbul. During this period, he participated in numerous project visits across EU countries and engaged in various international collaborations.

In 2011, he earned his master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a thesis focusing on teachers' critical thinking skills. In 2014, he began working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Educational Sciences at Yıldız Technical University.

Between 2016 and 2017, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Warsaw in Poland, where he conducted his doctoral research supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Yıldız Technical University, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses.

Beyond his teaching and research, he serves as a steering committee member of the WERA Global Research Network on Extended Education and is an Associate Editor of the Interactive Learning Environments journal (SSCI Q1).

His research interests include higher-order thinking skills, extended education, social-emotional learning, extracurricular activities, student engagement, and action research.
