Biography
After graduating from Yildiz Technical University, Faculty of Education Department of Educational Sciences, she completed her degrees of Master and Doctorate in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Social Sciences Institute of the same university consecutively. Since 2005, she has been working as a lecturer at Yildiz Technical University, Department of Educational Sciences.
She has conducted duties in “Teacher Education” as a “Methodology Education Project Coordinator” in the Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey and as a “Researcher” in the project supported by the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. Her national and international projects still continue at present.
Altun has five published books in education; many articles and proceeding manuscripts. She has been lecturing in Degree, Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree. She has successfully conducted 4 Doctoral and 18 Master’s Degree dissertations as a thesis advisor.
She has conducted workshops and a number of seminars for teachers and administrators in the fields of "School-based Program Development Models", "Instructional Design", "Assessment and Evaluation", "Teaching Methods and Techniques", "Curriculum Development", "Learning and Teaching Relationship", “UbD” in private and public schools. Also, she conducted duties as founder educational coordinator in private schools.
Altun has focused especially on school development models in recent years. She believes that the models that are developed in schools will lead to success only on condition that teachers are involved in the process, develop their own models and implement them in their classrooms. By this purpose, she has founded the learning community called “Tasarımcı Öğretmen (teacher as a designer)” as a team.
