Biography
1972 Rotterdam doğumlu. İlk, orta ve lise tahsilini Kayseri’de tamamladı. 1991 yılında Erciyes Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Biyoloji Bölümü'nü kazandı ve 1995 yılında mezun oldu.
Aynı yıl Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi’nde araştırma görevlisi olarak göreve başladı. 1998 yılında Gazi Üniversitesi’nde yüksek lisans, 2003 yılında Anadolu Üniversitesi'nde doktora eğitimini tamamladı.
2004 yılında Palermo Üniversitesi (İtalya) Natural Products Laboratory’dan aldığı davet üzerine, 3 ay süreyle bitki kimyası bitkilerin kanser tedavisinde kullanımı konusunda çalışmalarda bulundu.
Kolon kanseri konusunda yayınlanan makalesine, TÜBİTAK tarafından "Ulusal Patent" desteği verildi.
Kanser ve halk sağlığı alanında ulusal ve uluslararası 100’den fazla hakemli makale ve bildiri ile, iki adet uluslararası ve iki adet ulusal kitap bölümü yazarlığı bulunmaktadır. Lisansüstü ve doktora seviyesinde birçok teze danışmanlık yaptı. Lisans seviyesinde biyoetik ve iş sağlığı ve güvenliği, lisansüstü alanında bilimsel etik, bitki kimyası ve bitkilerin hastalıkların tedavide kullanılması alanlarında dersler vermektedir.
Kamu, özel sektör ve yerel yönetimlerdeki yönetici ve üst düzey bürokratlara Avrupa Birliği proje yazımı ve proje döngüsü konularında özel seminerler vermiştir.
Kamu ve özel sektörde iş güvenliği uzmanlığı ve işyeri hekimliği eğiticisi olarak (Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Bakanlığı onaylı) eğitimler vermiştir.
Birçok sivil toplum kuruluşu ve vakıfta başkanlık ve yöneticilik yapmıştır.
2009 yılında doçent, 2014 yılında ise profesör oldu.
Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Moleküler Biyoloji ve Genetik Bölümü öğretim üyesidir.
Almanca bilmektedir.
Prof. Dr. Sezgin Çelik evli olup, Ülkü ve Gökçe adlı iki kız babasıdır.
