Biyografi
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aktaş, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi'nde Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü'nde Öğretim Üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır. Aktaş, Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora derecelerini Bilgisayar Mühendisliği alanında sırasıyla Syracuse Üniversitesi ve İndiana Üniversitesi' nden aldı. Doç.Dr. Aktaş, lisansüstü eğitimi sırasında, e-bilim simülasyonları için servis odaklı programlama teknikleri üzerinde araştırmalar yapmak için Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Los Alamos Ulusal Laboratuarında, Karar Uygulamaları Bölümünde (Decision Applicaitons Divisions) çalıştı. Deprem ve tektonik süreçlerin modellenmesi ve anlaşılması için iş süreç uygulamalarına odaklanan Aktaş, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'n de NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratuvarında çalıştı. Dr. Aktaş doktora sonrası çalışmalarını Indiana Üniversitesi'nde Data to Insight Center'da (D2I) tamamladı. D2I’ da, büyük ölçekli verilerin yöntemi ve bilim adamlarının yaptıkları çalışmaların tekrarlanabilirliğe yardımcı olmak amacıyla bilimsel deneylerin yapıldığı karmaşık ortamları ve koşulları daha iyi anlamalarına yardımcı olan projelerde katkılarda bulundu. Aktaş, çok sayıda bilimsel makale, kitap, kitap bölümü ve konferans bildirisi yayınladı. Aktaş, büyük ölçekli veri yönetimi, bilimsel verilerin yönetimi ve bulut bilişim platformlarında büyük veri işleme konularında aktif araştırmalar yapmaktadır. Aktaş, Tübitak Kariyer Ödülü sahibi olup, aynı zamanda ACM ve IEEE Üyesidir.
